Southwick man arrested after allegedly striking Granby officer with vehicle

SOUTHWICK, MA (WSHM) -

A Southwick man was arrested after police said he struck a Granby police officer with his vehicle Sunday evening.

According to our media partner, Masslive.com, officer Mark Garofalo was hit on Salmon Brook Street, also known as Route 10, after he left his cruiser to help with a disabled tractor-trailer.

Granby police said Garofalo was transported by ambulance to the Hartford Hospital, where he was treated and later released. At this time, no additional details have been given on the officer's condition.

According to Masslive.com, Daniel Kupruck, 31, of Southwick, was arrested and is facing multiple charges including striking an officer, possession of drug paraphernalia and driving with suspended license.

Police said Krupuck was released on $5,000 bond and ordered to appear in Enfield Superior Court on Aug. 12. Southwick police also assisted with traffic control at the accident scene.
