Hundreds of South Holyoke residents got out and enjoyed the nice weather on Saturday, taking in the Family Fun Day at Carlos Vega Park.
The event was put on by the South Holyoke Safe Neighborhood Initiative.
The group - spearheaded by the Hampden County Sheriff's Department - is working to make South Holyoke a more family friendly place.
One family told CBS 3 that they have seen a difference in the past year, since they have been volunteering with the group.
"I've seen kids gathering up more and talking to each other more and less bad stuff in the street," said Aida Rivera. "I see them coming together and making teams. So, everybody is together."
"It feels good that someone is caring for the community and doing stuff," said Robert Rivera. "The kids feel safe now."
As part of the Family Fun Day, those in attendance got to have some food, play some games and even enjoy a giant inflatable water slide.
