WEST SPRINGFIELD, MA (WSHM) -

A body that was discovered floating on the Long Island Sound in Clinton, CT has been sent to the medical examiner's office to determine if it is the missing fisherman from West Springfield.

The body was found Thursday night by a recreational boater about 10 miles west of Old Saybrook.

According to the Coast Guard, 51-year-old Yuri Kirvpichev was fishing with two sons and a friend at the mouth of the Connecticut River off of Old Saybrook Sunday when he fell out of his boat.

Authorities say he was attempting to find his fishing pole he had dropped into the water.

He was not wearing a life vest.
