OLD LYME, CT (WSHM) -

Connecticut rescue crews are searching for a 58-year-old man believed to be from West Springfield who fell into the water while on a fishing trip Sunday.

According to our sister station WFSB emergency officials received a call that the father of 10 fell off of an anchored boat with two children boat around 8 p.m.

The children were rescued by a boat in the area and a second boat unsuccessfully tried to reach the man.

Multiple fire boats searched the Sound Sunday night while the Haddam Fire Department joined in with special sonar equipment.

The United States Coast Guard brought down one of its boats from New London, and the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection and Connecticut State Police responded as well.

Around 11:15 p.m. Old Saybrook stopped its search while the Coast Guard continued overnight operations.
