The Phoenix Rescue Mission is issuing an urgent plea as 117-degree temperatures loom on the horizon.
The need for water has been so great that there's less than 300 cases, or about 7,000 bottles of water, in the Mission's warehouse.
The public can drop off water from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Saturday at the Mission's warehouse at 1468 N. 26th Ave. in Phoenix.
There are also drop-off sites Valley-wide listed at www.phoenixrescuemission.org.
The "Code Red: Summer Heat Relief" campaign runs through Aug. 31 but with extreme temperatures in the forecast, the mission has elevated the urgency to provide help to the homeless and elderly shut-ins.
