SPRINGFIELD, MA (WSHM) -

Springfield police arrested a woman after a traffic stop early Friday morning.

According to police, officers were on patrol downtown Springfield around 3 a.m. when they spotted a blue Honda Civic stroll through the red light at Union and Maple Street.

Police say officers pulled over the Honda with two females inside, and issued a moving violation.

During the traffic stop, police say the officers could see the passenger, identified as Tiffany Evans, trying to hide a package containing a large amount of heroin.

Evans, who was just coming from work at a local strip club, reportedly claimed she did not have on enough clothing to conceal the illegal narcotic.

Police say the officers had Evans step away from the vehicle, and the 47 bags of heroin fell to the pavement.

She was placed into custody, and the heroin was taken by police.

The driver of the vehicle was issued a citation for running a red light.

Evans, 20, was charged with possession of heroin with intent to distribute, and will be arraigned in Springfield court Friday.
