CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (KFVS) -

On June 13, 1965, 2-year-old Elizabeth Ann Gill was playing in her front yard in Cape Girardeau when someone snatched her from her happy home.

She hasn't been seen or heard from since. Her family says they suspect she was kidnapped to be put up for adoption on the black market, and is likely still alive.

Thursday, sister Martha Hamilton and other close friends and family members will mark the 48th anniversary of her disappearance by mailing out flyers with photos of an age-progressed Elizabeth who would now be 50-years-old.

They’re hopeful the flyer will jog someone’s memory, as Elizabeth likely does not remember the family in Cape Girardeau that has never given up hope of bringing her home.

The hope is they will find Beth soon to bring peace to family members before it's too late.

"I don't know if there's anything such as closure on this type of thing, but my mom is elderly," said Martha Hamilton, Beth's sister. "She is not in good health. That's my greatest prayer that she knows what happened to her baby in 1965."

Hamilton says the family believes Beth is still alive and probably has no memory of her real family in Cape Girardeau.

That's why family members are hopeful these flyers will jog someone's memory about what happened 48 years ago.

Or, that someone will see a resemblance between the age progressed picture and someone they know.
