Lt. Gov. Timothy Murray is expected to step down to become head of the Worcester Regional Chamber of Commerce, according to close sources familiar with the decision.
Murray, a former Worcester mayor, is expected to resign from Gov. Deval Patrick's administration if confirmed to lead the business group.
The exact timing of Murray's departure is unknown at this time.
Murray is in his second term. He had previously announced he wouldn't run for governor or another elective office in 2014.
