HARTFORD, CT (WFSB) -

Hartford police detectives are investigating the suspicious death of a woman that occurred late Thursday night.

Police said they were called shortly after 11 p.m. to the area of Auburn and Westland streets for a disturbance and an unconscious female.

According to police, the victim was found lying in Auburn Street not breathing. Officers performed CPR, and the woman was taken by ambulance to St. Francis Hospital, where she was pronounced dead just before midnight.

Hospital officials tell police that the victim, who has only been identified as a 21-year-old woman from Hartford, showed no obvious signs of trauma and that the cause of death is unknown.

The Medical Examiners Office will be performing an autopsy on the victim. Police said they do not believe any weapons were used during the fight.

Police are also searching for the other woman involved in the altercation. They did not have a description of her. Police did say that all indications are that the two women knew each other.

Anyone with information is urged to call the Hartford Police Department.
