The Unitarian Universalist Parish of Monson currently stands strong in the heart of town.
However, nearly two years ago, the parish's iconic granite steeple had been reduced to a pile of rubble after the June 1, 2011 tornado tore through the heart of town.
Six hundred thousand dollars later, along with months of preparation, design and the acquisition of permits, and the reconstruction of the new steeple is finally complete.
Town representatives told CBS 3 that the parish's commitment to rebuild is an optimistic sign of the town's ultimate comeback.
"It is very fortunate that they were that committed and able to do that ... then it gives you that comfort that we are going to recover well, and recover better than we were before," said Gretchen Neggers, Monson's Town Administrator.
The Unitarian Universalist Parish of Monson will hold a special dedication ceremony for its new steeple on Saturday at 3 p.m.
