On Monday, Google held a series of workshops in Springfield to bring local businesses online.
The goal of these free workshops is to make it easy, fast and simple for businesses to grow their presence on the web and attract more consumers.
Google representatives told CBS 3 that 97 percent of internet users are using the web to find products and services in their area, so they said it's important for businesses to be online to stay competitive.
"Businesses with a web presence grow 40 percent faster than those who don't ... and are twice as likely to create new jobs. So it's pretty important ... fast growth and create new jobs can happen if you get your business online," said Seth Van der Swaagh, telecom head of industry at Google's Cambridge-based headquarters.
Google has helped more than 100,000 businesses nationwide to grow their online presence.
