HOLYOKE, MA (WSHM) -

Massachusetts State Police said they are looking for three people who were involved in a traffic stop early Sunday morning.

Police said a gold Honda Accord failed to stop at a red light on Resnic Boulevard at about 2 a.m.

Once the car was pulled over, Trooper Timothy Harrington observed what he believed to be a gun under the leg of one of the two passengers in the car.

As Harrington backed away, the car sped off the wrong way down Maple Street.

It crashed into several parked cars a few blocks away.

When Harrington caught up, the driver and two passengers were nowhere to be seen, but a 9mm handgun and several spent shell casings were recovered from the crashed vehicle.

Police said the casings had the fresh scent of being recently fired.

They are now looking into the identities of the suspects and said warrants for their arrest will be sought at a later time.
