3 Springfield men arrested in connection with drive-by shooting

SPRINGFIELD, MA (WSHM) -

Three men have been arrested and charged in connection with a drive-by shooting downtown.

The shooting took place just after 2 a.m. Saturday, near the intersection of Dwight and Worthington streets.

Lt. Thomas Zarelli told CBS 3 that within a minute after the shooting, police found the suspects in a black Cadillac.

The victim in the shooting was hit multiple times, however, he is listed in stable condition.

According to CBS 3 media partner Mass Live and The Republican, Anthony Smith, 20; Trevor Gayle, 22; and Charles Darby, 22, are the three who were arrested in connection with the incident.

All three are from Springfield.

Police said they also found drugs and a handgun when they searched the suspects' car.

The three will be arraigned Monday in Springfield District Court.
