On Tuesday, St. Michael's Cathedral in Springfield had a special installation mass for Pope Francis.
It was a chance for local Catholics to celebrate Francis officially taking over.
"I thought it would be a younger man, but I'm very pleased. He certainly has a lot of skills - talking about the plague of the poor, economic justice - he's showing the world there are other issues besides gay marriage and birth control that the church has an agenda about," said Father Bill Pomperleau, Pastor of Our Lady of Sacred Heart in Springfield.
St. Michael's Academy along with representatives from the Latino community had also been at Tuesday's mass.
