PRESCOTT, AZ (AP) -

Two senior Yavapai County Sheriff's Office officers have resigned, including one who was placed on leave pending an investigation into a December Prescott bar fight involving members of a law enforcement motorcycle riders club.

Sheriff's spokesman Dwight D'Evelyn says Sgt. Bill Suttle and Capt. Marc Schmidt submitted their resignations Monday and intend to apply for retirement. [Click here to view the resignation letters (PDF)]

According to The Daily Courier, D'Evelyn says he could not say why Suttle and Schmidt resigned.

Suttle is a former commander of a drug trafficking task force while Schmidt was a member of the executive staff of the Sheriff's Office.

The Arizona Department of Public Safety and Coconino County Sheriff's Office are separately investigating the bar fight.
