Six Flags job fair begins in Agawam

AGAWAM, MA (WSHM) -

Within the first hour of the Six Flags New England job fair, hundreds packed into the human resources building.

Everyone wanted the chance to work for the amusement park.

"I am from Springfield, but I have never been able to get in the park," said Haleigh France, an applicant. "It has always been too full."

So France took matters into her own hands. Rather than be a guest at the park this season, she was one of the hundreds who showed up on the first day of the job fair.

"I want to do something like sales," said France. "Something with the people, but not rides because I am not that mechanically able."

Six Flags has 3,000 jobs to fill before they open on April 13. Officials told CBS 3 that it all starts with filling out the application online.

"Once you're here, we print out the application, put you through an interview, place you with your department and you could be hired on the spot," said Melissa Pinkerton, Six Flags New England's communications manager.

For a teenager like France, that job would be greatly appreciated.

"The fact that I could possibly get a job in the first place being 16 years old, with the way the economy is today, I would be happy to have a job before I turn 18," said France, who landed a job with the park's admissions department.

The job fair continues until 8 p.m. on Friday.

It then runs on Saturday from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m.
