Hedging their bets on the growth of the dance industry, the team at Dance Videos Direct selects Universal Publishing to provide the hottest new sounds to complement their broad line of instruction videos.
Clearwater, FL (PRWEB) February 27, 2013
Poised to begin its second decade in the dance industry, Dance Videos Direct has finalized it's licensing with Universal Publishing, a music industry powerhouse known for it's top-of-the-line production music. This license promises to provide the exact playlist the Dance Videos Direct team needs to complement their extensive line of dance instruction DVDs.
Starting in 2013, Dance Videos Direct will depend solely on Universal Publishing's extensive music catalog through FirstCom and MasterSource to provide the specialized sounds needed for sixty (60) new dance lesson DVDs. The new license enables Dance Videos Direct to quickly synchronize the right Swing, Country, West Coast Swing, Ballroom, Latin, and Line Dance music with their instruction to ensure viewers get the most realistic experience while learning to dance.
"Getting 'Sync' Rights is something very few people in the dance industry know about, yet it's one of the easiest ways to end up with serious criminal charges and major litigation" says Shawn Trautman, Dance Videos Direct's founder and CEO. "If producers haven't secured the full clearance rights for video from each and every copyright owner of every song, they're setting themselves up for a felony record, up to five years in jail, and fines up to $250,000 based on U.S. Copyright Law."
In recent years, sites like YouTube and Facebook have exploded onto the scene and made dance videos very commonplace and easy to upload. The 'behind-the-scenes' user licenses YouTube put in place with several major music groups allows for music to be uploaded and synchronized with video, but they're very specific. Believing the same content or even event or competition dance videos with copyrighted music can be synchronized and put on DVD, streamed, downloaded, or otherwise distributed, can be one of the most damaging decisions a producer can make.
Plans for the next sixty 'Learn to Dance' DVDs for Dance Videos Direct include in-depth beginner, intermediate and advanced dance lessons on Swing, West Coast Swing, Cha-Cha, Foxtrot, Lindy Hop, Waltz, Ballroom, Country and Line Dancing. These titles will strengthen and enhance the already expansive product line that Dance Videos Direct currently offers.
Founded as an alternative to traditional ballroom dance instruction, Dance Videos Direct has reinvented the way people learn dancing and has produced and released over 75 DVDs from it's studio in Clearwater, FL.
