•     Make sure to line the trench with filter fabric. If the trench is not lined with filter fabric, the soil will wash into the gravel and plug up the drain.
•     Never ever connect down spouts to the French drain. If down spouts are connected to the French drains, the flow of water can be so great that it will fill up the French drain and actually push water back into the ground.
