Casino talks were among the conversations Tuesday night at a public forum held at Sal's Bakery and Cafe near the "X" in Springfield.
Residents were invited to the cafe to speak with representatives from the city and police department about the proposed 1 a.m. closing time for Springfield bars.
Although some residents say the early closing is a good idea, they also wonder where a casino bar or restaurant would fit with this proposal if a casino comes to town.
"If you close these restaurants and bars at 1 o'clock and the casinos are allowed to stay open later, they're going to have restaurants. And the restaurant owners in Springfield are going to say, 'Well now you've handcuffed me, I have to close at 1,' so you're going to run into a problem," said Ray Caporale, who attended the meeting.
The city's license commission is set to vote on the 1 a.m. curfew this Thursday.
