The Springfield Fire Department was called into action early Sunday evening, as they received a call for a fire at 45-47 Cleveland Street.
Dennis Leger, aide to Fire Commissioner Joseph Conant, told CBS 3 that state police saw the fire and called it in just after 5 p.m.
Leger said the building is vacant and someone set the fire, as a pile of trash was lit on the third floor.
The house suffered $30,000 to $40,000 in damage.
No one was injured.
The fire remains under investigation.
