U.S. Marshals have captured a convicted rapist who cut off his monitoring bracelet and fled to Phoenix.
Deputy U.S. Marshal spokesman Frederick Freeman said Chris Harrison Yesslith was arrested at an apartment complex in Phoenix on Monday.
The 37-year-old was convicted of raping and beating his girlfriend at a hotel in Gallup, NM, in 2008.
In July 2012, he was granted parole, and Jan. 27 he went to a Walmart store in Albuquerque and used a pair of shears to cut off his GPS bracelet, according to Freeman.
A warrant was issued for his arrest and he was located at an acquaintance's apartment in Phoenix.
He is being held in Maricopa County's Fourth Avenue Jail while he waits extradition.
