Western Mass veterans honored four chaplains that died 70 years ago Sunday during World War II.
A ceremony was held inside the chapel at the Northampton VA Medical Center.
Back on Feb. 3, 1943, a Methodist minister, a Lutheran minister, a Jewish rabbi and a Catholic priest were all aboard the USS Dorchester when it was torpedoed.
The chaplains not only handed out life jackets to servicemen, they gave up their own when there were none left and went down with the ship.
