Today at noon, William "Mo" Cowan will be sworn in as interim senator by Vice President Joseph Biden. He will serve until the special election held on June 25 to replace John. F. Kerry.
Gov. Deval L. Patrick appointed Cowan as the state's new interim senator last week.
Cowan, 43, of Stoughton, served as Patrick's close aide, senior advisor and former chief of staff.
Cowan will become the state's second black U.S. Senator.
