Academy of Learning College expects new Healthcare program offerings to be expand quickly.

Bathurst, New Brunswick (PRWEB) January 30, 2013

On January 29, 2013, Academy of Learning College announced Ministry approval of a new diploma program, Community Service Worker (CSW). The first approved Canadian province is New Brunswick, although they anticipate other provinces across the country will quickly follow.

This approval represents the first program in New Brunswick, which will be offered not only in an instructor-led format by Academy of Learning College, but also in a Virtual Classroom delivery method. Academy of Learning College currently has a variety of many programs, including Business training programs and other Healthcare training programs, which are delivered virtually.

Virtual Classroom is an enrollment option which embraces ever-changing technology, making it possible for students in smaller campuses or remote regions to train for careers which might otherwise be unavailable to them. Academy of Learning College was the first private career college in many provinces to offer this type of learning platform.

“Academy of Learning College is proud to have the ability to offer programs in all 60 of our Canadian campuses, regardless of location or campus size,” says Shawn McGowan, Manager of the Healthcare Division.

Community, social and service workers administer and implement a variety of social assistance programs. They assist clients in dealing with personal and social challenges. They are employed by social service and government agencies, mental health agencies, group homes, shelters, substance abuse centres, school boards, correctional facilities and other establishments.

Positions for CSW graduates are in demand. According to Service Canada, “Openings will arise first from employment increase and from the need to replace community and social service workers who will be retiring or entering jobs in other occupations. …[M]any community and social service workers start their careers in community organizations, and move on after a few years to better paid positions in the public and parapublic sectors.”

Academy of Learning College’s CSW diploma program includes areas of study like Psychology Fundamentals, Sociology and Family Life in Canada, Mental Health and Addictions, Life-Span Development, Criminology, At-Risk Populations, Case Management, Counselling and Ethics, Business Communication, Report Writing, and Government and Social Services. This program also includes a Clinical Placement to give students hands-on experience in the industry.
