The bitter cold didn't stop dozens of Springfield teachers from turning out to Thursday night's school committee meeting protesting their contract.
Springfield teachers have been working since September without a contract.
With the school year half way through, they say it's time they get one.
"These are some of the hardest working teachers facing some challenges and they deserve to have a contract that is competitive with surrounding districts," said President of the Springfield Education Association Tim Collins.
The school committee met in executive session about teacher contracts.
Collins says they are hopeful they will get a new contract soon.
