SPRINGFIELD, MA (WSHM) -

Several businesses in the Pioneer Valley are benefiting from a statewide initiative to help small businesses get more money.

State treasurer Stephen Grossman has helped lead the initiative by giving 50 community banks close to $300 million to loan to small businesses across the state.

Springfield's Bellucci Salon & Day Spa is one of the businesses that have taken advantage of this loan program in order to grow its business.

"This has afforded us to be able to move from a small location that wasn't our own, and now own our own building…and we have more room… and we're hopefully in the future expand and continue to grow," said Maria Serra, owner of Bellucci Salon & Day Spa on White St. in Springfield.

The loan program has helped more than 3,200 businesses statewide.
