Springfield is not exactly a household name when referring to LGBT hot spots, though it should be.
According to the Census Bureau's American Community Survey, Springfield is among the top 10 cities for highest percentages of same-sex couples in the U.S.
The survey also lists Springfield as a desirable place to relocate from the metropolises because it's close to skiing resorts, shores, Boston and Provincetown.
Downtown, McKnight, Forest Park and the Ridgewood/Maple Hill area of Six Corners are all popular areas among gays in Springfield in that they occupy LGBT-appreciative art and architecture.
