American International College has announced plans for the vacated Mason Square fire station and nearby Indian Motorcycle factory.
The announcement comes three years after the city chose the college to redevelop the building.
The $25 million project includes plans to rehab 139 apartments in the former Indian Motorcycle factory, as well as put housing in the former firehouse.
The former Indian Motorcycle building and Mason Square firehouse sits adjacent to AIC's campus on State Street.
AIC retained First Resource Development Corporation of Norwell for the project. First Resource Development has previously redeveloped housing in Springfield's south end and at Worthington and Federal streets.
Construction on the project is scheduled to begin in 2014.
