On Monday, James Ferrera was sworn in by Judge William Boyle for his second term as city council president in Springfield.
Ferrera has served on the city council board since 2007.
The council president term is one year and, as of now, Ferrara already has an ambitious agenda lined up.
"Moving forward with the casino development here in the city of Springfield … making sure that Springfield has the best proposal possible, and reviewing it … and that it benefits the city of Springfield and its residents," Ferrera said.
Ferrera also has plans to set up a committee that will assess the safety of all public city schools in light of the Newtown, CT, shootings.
