For many the holiday shopping season kicked off back on Black Friday.
But CBS 3 Springfield ran into some people this Christmas Eve who, believe it or not, are just starting theirs now.
'Tis the day before Christmas and all through the mall last-minute shoppers are running buying gifts for one and for all.
With the countdown to Christmas in its last hours shoppers were out in full force this Christmas Eve.
"Today we're trying to get last-minute things for our mom and dad," said Faith Farnum of West Springfield.
Shoppers were flocking from store to store in hopes of grabbing some deals while crossing off their lists.
"Gloria my wife, wanted to come for the sales for her, so this is why we're really here," said Dennis Nolan of Easthampton.
Store owners at the Holyoke Mall said they were more than prepared to help those in search for the perfect gift.
"We're seeing mostly guys, they're our last-minute shoppers and a lot of the younger kids too, we try to help them the best we can and our team is a really great team," said Debra Bohonowicz, manager of Megan's Treasures.
The idea of waiting until the day before Christmas to do shopping may scare some, but some shoppers said it's actually the best time to come.
"No problem whatsoever, there's plenty of room to park and the people and the people are actually pretty nice. No body is rushing pushing you out of the way," Nolan said.
According to consumer reports 17 million Americans were expected to visit malls all across America Christmas Eve for some last-minute shopping.
"Even though some people are very last minute looking for things, we're best trying to keep everybody happy with a smile and wishing them a happy holiday," said Bohonowicz.
It's not the end of the shopping spree. Mall officials anticipate more crowds the day after Christmas when people come to spend those gift cards they received under the tree.
