Springfield city council unanimously voted in favor of current City Council President James Ferrera keeping his seat.
It will be the councilor's second one-year term as city council president.
The council also voted Bud Williams as possible council vice president.
Ferrera says there is plenty of items already on the agenda for his second term.
"Economic development projects on the horizon, public safety and dealing with declining revenues that we need to have addressed. It's going to be a really fun, exciting time and I can't thank my colleagues enough," he said.
This was an informal vote. The formal one will take place on Jan. 7.
