When Barack Obama was elected president in 2008, arsonists burned the Macedonia Church of God in Christ, which is a predominantly black church.
Four years later, the pastor of that church will have a role in making the president's re-election official.
Bishop Bryant Robinson has been asked to give the invocation one week from Monday at the official Electoral College vote in Boston.
The idea was brought about by Western Mass resident Candy Glazer, who was elected to the Electoral College this year.
Robinson's church re-opened in September 2011.
