Earlier this year, the Boston Red Sox honored fallen Springfield police Officer Kevin Ambrose at Fenway Park.
Saturday night, the Boston Celtics did the same on their home court.
The Ambrose family was in attendance at TD Garden for the ceremony.
Ambrose was shot and killed in the line of duty when he responded to a domestic call in June.
For the Ambrose family, while they are still recovering from their loss, they appreciate what the Celtics did Saturday.
"It is a great honor that everywhere throughout the state that people want to recognize him for what he did in his 36-year career," said Kyle Ambrose, Kevin Ambrose's son. "Just the fact that people are remembering him six months later is fantastic to the family."
Late last month, the Hampden County District Attorney's Office released their final report on the death of Kevin Ambrose.
They say the police review board is making recommendations on safety, training and protocol, related to how officers respond to certain domestic calls.
