SPRINGFIELD, MA (WSHM) -

The Hampden County District Attorney's Office has concluded its investigation into the death of Springfield police Officer Kevin Ambrose.

A grand jury indicted Shawn Bryan, 34, of Hempstead, NY, on charges including murder and armed assault with intent to murder.

Bryan is accused of killing Ambrose, a 36-year veteran of the police force, during a domestic dispute with his ex-girlfriend, 29-year old Charlene Mitchell.

Police later found Bryan dead in his car. The coroner's office ruled his death a suicide.

The Hampden County District Attorney's investigation found that Bryan shot Ambrose seven times, and Mitchell twice using a 9 mm Luger Glock that was later found in Bryan's car. The investigation found that Ambrose's weapon had not been fired.
