The city celebrated and honored its veterans with a parade that began at Springfield Technical Community College and wound up in front of City Hall on Sunday morning.
Hundreds turned out to pay tribute to former military members who gave so much for our country.
Springfield resident and retired Air Force Capt. Betty Borders was named the parade's Veteran of the Year.
Borders spent 16 1/2 years serving our country before turning to a life of teaching.
All of the officials who spoke at Sunday's ceremony said this year's turnout was the largest they have had in years.
