
Saturday, CBS 3 learned that Massachusetts State Police will have a hand in the Hurricane Sandy recovery process, as 25 troopers departed for New Jersey.
The state police said it is part of a week-long deployment to assist New Jersey police with their enforcement duties.
The 25 troopers are part of the state police's Division of Field Services, with many of them belonging to the tactical operations section.
Saturday night, the group reported to Fort Dix, NJ, which is where they will be based for the deployment.
The group will aid New Jersey officers who are patrolling the parts of the state that were devastated by Sandy.
Earlier this week, New Jersey emergency management authorities put out a request for law enforcement assistance.
