Democrat Elizabeth Warren defeated incumbent Scott Brown for the U.S. Senate seat he won in a special election just two years ago.
Warren took 53 percent of the vote while Brown brought in 47 percent.
Warren now becomes the first woman in the Bay state to win a United States Senate seat.
For months she and Brown have lobbed millions at their campaigns, a combined $68 million dollars that shattered previous campaign records in Massachusetts.
"We're going to fight for a level playing field and we're going to put people back to work," Warren said in her victory speech Tuesday night.
