A former Holyoke narcotics detective is going to jail on charges stemming from an undercover drug sting.
Paul Barkyoumb will spend 30 months behind bars at the Franklin House of Corrections in Greenfield after pleading guilty to three counts of cocaine distribution.
Barkyoumb was charged with selling $2,400 worth of cocaine to a undercover police officer. Barkyoumb's lawyers say an immune system disorder prevents him from being in state prison.
Barkyoumb resigned from the Holyoke Police Department in September 2010 after admitting to sending threatening messages to an ex-girlfriend.
