LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - Have you ever suffered with the problem of playing pinball with your cell phone and extra change in your car as you drive around town because you had no where to put them? Now there's an item on the market that promises to keep it all in place. It's called Get A Grip, and I'm going to Try It Before You Buy It!
Newer cars these days usually come equipped with an area to store your extra change along with a place for you to set your cell phone. But if you own an older model car, you're pretty much stuck trying to find a place to stash your phone and that handful of change you just got back from your purchase at that fast food drive-thru. I found a product that's very simple, yet promises to be effective with 'sticking' your phone and change to it, never letting them slide away.
The Get A Grip is a thin rubber pad about five to six inches long and around three to four inches wide. It will adhere almost to any dashboard or surface that's similar in your vehicle.
I put ours on the dash in one of the station's news cars. I have an iPhone that already has a sticky type case on it to do the job of the Get A Grip, so I took that off, placed a nickel, dime and quarter next to the phone, and then took off.
First stop was our visitor parking lot where there's enough room to safely do some quick turns to test the ability of the product to hold on to my phone and extra change. After several trips around the lot, nothing moved. The Get A Grip did keep a tight hold on my phone and change.
The only downside I can find is if you have more than a few coins you want to keep in place. The product is only large enough for a phone or iPod and a few coins. But if that's all you have, then it should work just fine.
We purchased the Get A Grip at Walgreens for a little over $5. It seemed to work well, and for the price, not a bad buy.
