Woman lies to police about almost getting abducted

EAST LONGMEADOW, MA (WSHM) -

A Springfield woman is heading to court after she allegedly lied to police about almost getting abducted.

Police told CBS 3 the woman said she was in the Stop and Shop parking lot on North Main Street in East Longmeadow when a man tried to force her into a blue van.

When police looked at surveillance video they didn't see any evidence of an attempted abduction.

Police don't know why she would make up a fib. The woman faces a misdemeanor of reporting a false claim.
