Governor introduces new emergency alert app

BOSTON, MA (WSHM) -

Massachusetts has certainly had its fair share of extreme storms, and now there's a way to know a bit sooner. Gov. Deval Patrick introduced an emergency alerting app.

Smartphone users can get public safety and health alerts as well as information on emergencies and disasters.

It's called Ping4alerts, and it's free.
