Springfield police kicking off their 34th Citizens Police Academy

SPRINGFIELD, MA (WSHM) -

About two dozen Springfield residents are learning about what it's like to patrol the streets of the city.

Wednesday kicked off the 34th Annual Springfield Police Department Citizens Police Academy.

During the next 10 weeks, the students will learn how police investigate crimes, from gangs to use of force.

Students tell CBS 3 they want to know what it's like to be on the other side of calling 911.
