Police arrested a man after they apprehended him in the Connecticut River.
Capt. John Ferrarini of the West Springfield Police Department told CBS 3 the man fled after he shoplifted from the Big Y on Memorial Drive, taking a little over $14 in merchandise.
Ferrarini said the man fled because there were warrants out for his arrest.
Police eventually found the man clinging to a pillar under the Memorial Bridge and took him into custody.
He is currently being held on $3,500 bail.
