A man is dead and another wounded after a shooting outside of Anthony's gentlemen's club, located at 500 New Ludlow Rd., early Friday morning.
The Northwestern District Attorney's office said it appears the shooting is not a random act of violence and there is no cause for public alarm.
The shooting happened just before 2 a.m.
Club management would not go on camera Friday, but told CBS 3 their metal detector at the door was working and they do not believe a gun was inside the building.
"They are good neighbors. We have not had a problem at all with them," said Steven Moran, owner of a car dealership next door to the club.
Moran said the two have co-existed for 20 years and they have never a had an incident like this before. He also believes it is something that is not likely to happen again.
"It is too bad that somebody lost their life," Moran stated. "But I do not think it is something you are going to be hearing again for a while because it is a fluke I believe."
Moran stressed that his business is in a very quiet area.
Anthony's is next door.
A church is across the street.
"It is unfortunate, but I don't think it's anything that reflects on this neighborhood or the South Hadley people," said Moran. "It is a good area."
Officials are not releasing the names of the victims at this time.
Anyone with information on the shooting is urged to contact the South Hadley Police Department.
