UMass, Amherst is paying for a costly mistake after they towed nearly 200 cars Monday.
A parking ban was in effect Sunday and Monday for lot 44 to make room for students to move back onto campus.
There was some miscommunication because people who already paid the $358 parking fee thought they could park there, but couldn't.
One hundred eighty cars were towed.
UMass is picking up the towing reimbursements for students which will coast nearly $19,000.
