SPRINGFIELD, MA (WSHM) -
With the warm heat there is a high ozone level which means poor air quality for southern New England on Tuesday.
"As this hazy, hot and humid weather continues, we predict air quality to reach unhealthy levels in parts of New England," said the administrator of EPA's New England office, Curt Spalding.
Over exposure to dangerous ozone levels can cause breathing problems, aggravate asthma and make people more prone to respiratory infection. People should refrain from strenuous activity outside.
Officials said everyone can help reduce ozone by driving less, using public transportation and avoiding the use of small gasoline powered engines like lawn mowers.
