
Residents from multiple towns were left in the dark Tuesday night.
Western Massachusetts Electric Company customers in Easthampton, Springfield, Southampton and Agawam lost power.
At about 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, a transformer blew out in Easthampton at Pomeroy and Strong streets, sending power lines down and causing them to catch on fire. Power was restored to nearly 500 customers around midnight Wednesday.
In an unrelated incident, 1,500 Springfield residents in the Forest Park area lost power when a transformer blew on Dickinson Street.
Meanwhile, in Agawam, an outage occurred on Cherry Lane, leaving 56 without power.
