Several Massachusetts State Police troopers were on scene of a multi-vehicle accident Sunday afternoon.
The jaws of life was needed to remove a 7-months-pregnant woman from her car after Massachusetts State Police say a Ford Mustang was speeding and crashed into car. State police say the 21-year-old woman from South Hadley and her unborn child are in good condition.
The accident happened just after 2:30 Sunday afternoon on 291 westbound, just after Exit 3, the Armory Street exit. Officials tell CBS 3, the driver of the Mustang lost control, hit the guardrail and the pregnant woman's car. Police say a 21-year-old Springfield man driving the Mustang caused the accident. Officials say he was also treated at the hospital for minor injuries.
Two lanes of traffic were closed for an hour and a half or so as troopers investigated the scene.
Troopers say the Springfield man has received a speeding ticket and will be issued more citations for other violations.
Officials are not releasing the names of the two drivers involved.
