Children from the Rebecca Johnson Visual and Performing Arts School in Springfield will soon have a new place to play and learn.

After more than two years of lobbying, principal Francine Pina-Council says a new playground will become a reality. Plans call for the standard playground equipment, along with a little league baseball field, track, and an outdoor classroom amphitheatre.

"We also have areas for planting and studying the environment." said principal Pina-Council. "We've incorporated the academics in with the playground."

The school expects to break ground this summer and have it completed by July 2011.
