Springfield College students and the Massachusetts Career Development Institute teamed up on Thursday to serve Thanksgiving dinner week early.

The event was open to Springfield residents, and hundreds turned out for for the free meal. The colleges food service, Aramark, prepared everything from traditional roast turkey right down to the pumpkin pie. The decorations are thanks to students from area elementary schools.

The dinner started in 1997 but has been held on an annual basis for only 10 years.
